The other day I was in Landmark to pick up a few books. The books which I had in mind were to be found in the kid's section. While I was there rummaging through the shelves trying to find a yet unspoiled copy of the books, something in a bubble pack got my eye. Like a moth to the flame I was drawn to it. It was a G.I. Joe figure. The site of it took me back ten years. There I was in the sand pile ( which had been put there for repair work ) with my action figures, fighting desperately to prevent an attack on a truck carrying precious candy. There with me was my brother, who was always made to play the bad guys much to his disappointment. Those were the days under the summer sun.
It is ironic that when I had the need for these toys I had no money. Now that I have money I just donot have the time to buy or play with them. Also the social stigma attached with young men playing with toys prevents me from getting it. But as I wandered through wonderland I came across LEGO. Those magical bricks of my young days. Seeing some thing which I could buy, my heart felt elated. As I grabbed the box,I felt an overpowering joy. Then my eyes fell on the price. It read 3k .......I had to put it back. There is no justice in this world. When I could buy something the prohibitive price prevented me. Sometimes I wonder if there is any point in growing up. More then half your dreams are shattered and the rest are on a pipe-line on its way to be shattered. If only there was a way of going back, of second chance. Well ... What more could I say except, its another dream broken.

Finacial Blues.
It just one of those days. Money comes into your account and 2 days later you are broke . Bloody Hell! This consumeristic nature of mine is getting to be heavy on the bank account. There is always something to buy, always something dangling like a tasty carrot pulling you towards financial doomsday. My wallet carries around more bits and peices of scrap paper then currency notes. But then, it also carries the reason for me being a finacial clearing house between my Salary account and my expenditure account --- My Credit card!!
It most likely to be the reason for my early un-natural financial demise. Its a money sink, a blackhole, pulling in all and returning none. Life was so simple without it. Sometimes it reminds me of the long standing joke about marriage -- those outside want to get it, those with it want to shred it to a thousand million peices and jump on it!! Alas! Alas! So is the nature of our society .... One cannot live with it, neither can one live without.

ITALY WINS THE WORLD CUP!
After four and twenty years the Azzuris take the World Cup home. In a match that bordered on both excitement and boredom order of things were upturned. Zizou the lost his cool and head butted Materazzi resulting in a dismissal. What a disgracefull act for a player so great. The red card comes on Zidanes retirement match. What a sad way to end a career so illustrous as his. Zidane scored for France in the 7' of the game with a cheeky penalty. It was awarded for Materazzi's foul on Florent Malouda. Materazzi payed back the goal in the 19' when he scored of a corner of Pirlo with a header. After the goals in the first half the match remained goal-less as France exerted itself in the second half. But the Italian rear-guard, with captain Cannavaro, just did not relent. What ever the breaks the French made was due to skill. There was header by Zidane, which was reminiscent of the 1998 header, which was deflected by Gigi Buffon. With the match going into penalties no one would have been more nervous then coach Marcello Lippi. In there history Italy has never won of a penalty shootout. They have always had there stars miss out on the shots. I ,for a fleeting moment ,had expected the jinx to be on Alex Del Piero. But he came through, as did Grosso. In a turn of fate it was David Trezeguet whos shoots deflected of the crossbar. The Italians came through with all 5 goals on the target and the French lost 5 -3. This bought an end to an momentous 18th World cup. We hope too see better drama and action in four years time in South Africa.

Germany vs Argentina 4 - 2 PSO

I have been left spellbound. An end is expected to every match but this is one expected not to end. Both of the teams played as if this was the final of to the World Cup, 2006. At the end of extra time I did not know what team should continue. As fate would have it, it is Germany. With Cambriossi missing the last penalty, a brilliant save by Lehmann, Argentina has a long way to go before they reach home. They played second to no one. If they continued like this, even the best teams in the world cup would have had a tough time.
All I can say at this point is that the next scheduled match is as entertaining as this. Forza Azzuris.
Germany vs Argentina 1-1 ( end of extra time )
Pace of the match continues. Match goes into penalty shootout. Oh! Oh! What can I expect of Italy. If either of the team continues into the Semis with the attitude they are showing right now. Italy ( if they win against Ukraine ) will have a big match against them. Penalty about to start. Rest of the post later.
Germany vs Argentina 1 -1 (before extra time )
What a match!!! This is probably the best match in the World Cup till now. The 2 goals scored by the two teams has created an atmosphere of intense tension. The firecrackers bursting after the 49' min goal by Ayala made it look like in this city of joy that Argentina had it covered. But, as there is always a but, the 80' min equaliser by Klose just blew the match open. This make Klose the highest goal scorer in the world cup with 5 goals. I am still waiting for an conclusion to this intense action.

Italy Vs Australia 1 - 0 World Cup, 2006

The Match between Italy and Australia in the Pre-quarters of World Cup 2006 will be debated for long. The nail biting finish to otherwise unimpressive play, has the making of a classic World Cup controversy. After a goal less 90 minutes of play Italy was awarded a penalty in the remaining 30 sec's of the 3 min Injury time. Game would have continued into extra time ( and one can speculate that it may have gone on to a shoot out ) had not the penalty been given for the Neil's "fall/Attempted tackle" on Garusso. Francesco Totti ( critised through out the World Cup ) scored the match winner with surgical precision and acheived redemption for the bad memories.
What will be debated is wether the fall by Neil was attempted tackle on Garusso of Italy or was it just a fall. But for what its worth I would like to say --"You donot take a fall in the Box". Neil violated this principle and Australia paid for it by being ousted from the World Cup. The Socaroos are heading home.
What is interesting though is that Italy was sent packing in the last world cup by South Korea under the same coach. It was as controversial as this one. A goal was given offside even when it was not. Also there was a red card for a non existent reason.
Is this a pay back for Guss Hiddick ? Well we may not know the answers to those q's. The Azzuris need to concentrate on the next match with Ukraine. They are not a bad team and if the Italians play as they did yesterday they will have a tough fight on there hand.
Forza Azzuri!

Pilot Episode : The Customary Introduction
Hello and Welcome to my fellow Web-crawlers. Congratulations are in order, at least someone found this blog at the ends of the internet. I will try, here and there, on this web log to provide interpretation's of the world as I see it. No, I am not trying to improve the world, start a new social order or suggesting a new way to toast bread. I am just going to ramble on about my perceptions on the inner workings of this watery planet on which we have existed for o-so-long.
I had prepared a better introduction for this opening post but ... I ... err... managed to misplace it. On a through search ( which when compared to the devastation in the wake of a Tom and Jerry chase, humbles it ),I found out, my seminal work on introductions was being used to mop up the remains of yesterday's fish. Sigh! Talk about justice. Sigh! Oh! Well... life goes on.
